Urticaria

Urticaria is an allergic/autoinflammatory reaction of the skin characterised of the appearance of hives. Hives are itchy, erythematous, raised lesions on the skin (like huge insect bites) that appear and disappear spontaneously usually after 30 minutes to 2 hours. Urticaria is divided in acute urticaria that lasts less than 6 weeks and chronic urticaria that persists over a 6 week period. A detailed medical history, examination and blood examinations are performed in order to find the causative agent.
